I hope your child was able to tell you all about our Maker Mobile visit on Friday. We had a wonderful time learning how to create our own 3D houses using tinkercad.com. Students used 3D printers to bring their creations to life. Stay tuned on our twitter account to see what our creations looked like.
This week we started our new unit in Math on 2D geometry. We will be exploring how to name, describe and classify 2D shapes.
In language, we continue to enjoy being a part of the Global Read Aloud. This week, our book is called "It's Not Fair." Students have enjoyed relating to this book and seeing how other students around the world feel is 'unfair' in their lives. Our writing focus for the next few weeks, will be on descriptive writing.
In science, we continue to explore simple machines. This week students will be challenged to create an example of each simple machine using pasta and glue. We will post to twitter what our final products look like.
At the end of the day today, Mrs. Campbell declared that tomorrow we will show our support for the Toronto Blue Jays by wearing blue to school. I look forward to seeing the sea of blue in the classroom tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you were able to spend time enjoying the beautiful weather with your loved ones!!!
Thank you to everyone who donated non-perishable food items to our St.Anne food drive. Students were so excited to see just how much our school was able to collect.
In Math, we are hoping to wrap up our data management unit this week. Students have been learning how to conduct a survey, collect responses, as well as graph and interpret their data. Through math centers and independent tasks, students have been able to practice these skills.
In Language, we have been excitedly participating in the global read aloud. Hopefully your children have been telling you all about the project. Feel free to check out www.theglobalreadaloud.com to see just how many school around the world are participating. Last week, the focus was on a book called Chopsticks. This week our new read aloud text is called Duck!Rabbit! Please follow our class on twitter to see all the fun we are having with the global initative.
In Science, we shared our Simple Machine presentations. I am very impressed at the number of students who built their example. This week, we will attempt to group our items by like characteristics and explore each simple machine further through interactive smart board activities.
This Friday, the University of Ottawa Maker Mobile will be coming to St.Anne. Our class will get to participate in a session entitled "Intro to 3D printing." The maker mobile was at the school last week for our Grade 5's and from what I saw, students in our class will have a great experience this Friday.
